Report for April 2009

We had a Natter and Noggin on our club night on the 8th. Looking forward to the Sevens To The Sea run on the 19th. As they say sometimes less is more. We all had a busy time chatting, sorting out who is doing what and passing out entry forms for future events, especially for the Wings and Wheels on the 12th July. You will see from the photograph that something Irish went on! I am not sure if it was to do with an impending visit to that island or what happened during the recent Grand Slam battle on the rugby pitch?

Unfortunately Dianne and I will be in France for our May meeting. This is our Mystery Run on the 13th. Meeting in the car park of the George Hotel, Leadenham and leaving promptly at 7.30pm. A short ride through quiet lanes to a secret location, though I suspect chips will be in evidence! This has been organised by Paddy and Ande Malone, as has the Cultural Visit on the 10th June. This year it is to be the Medieval Bishops’ Palace, Lincoln. This is a fascinating building in an unrivaled setting. Standing in the shadow of the beautiful Lincoln Cathedral standing on a hilltop with sweeping views, the palace was once among the most important buildings in the country. It hosted visits by Henry V111 and James 1 before being ransacked by troops in 1648. Parking is round the cathedral itself, the palace is on the south side. Timing is 7.00pm prompt please as a guide has been booked.
