Report for May 2010

On a very cold May evening ten cars were assembled at the George car park at the allotted time including two Chummys and a Special. Occupants of these cars well muffled against the chilll air!  Ian Bancroft had his arm twisted to wait in the car park for the late arrivals. Unfortunately they never turned up!  However as Ian has the fastest car he soon turned up at the pub. As usual Paddy Maolone produced a super mystery run.  Not only was it through some pretty countryside but no one got lost. After 14 miles we pulled in to the car park of The Bustard Inn, South Raunceby, Lincs. Its name originating form the very sad fact that the last great bustard in Britain was shot on the Raunceby estate in the 1800's.  An extensive menu was on offer and as ever Ed Davies managed a pudding!  The talk in the bar centred around the various trips that members were about to embark upon, four of us of to tour Ireland for ten days next week, Tony & Brenda Johnson of to Holland this week. Also a number of Lincs. members wil be entering this years coast to coast.  Great to think we are never afraid to take our cars to far off places!  That said I had a phone call from a new member at the weekend who had just acquired his first Austin Seven.  He explained he was finding it a strange driving experience and did not feel confident taking it very far.  After telling him of some of our  members excusrions my advice was " Have faith in your Austin and use it!

My wife Sue went round the assembled members taking names for the August BBQ please see below. Let us know your tickets requirements asap and start praying now for fine weather. Next month is our cultural visit to Newark Air Museum which is opening especially for us on the night.  Please all try and arrive on time.  Paddy has aasked me to place information on a Lincs. Wings & Wheels event to be held at Wickenby see below.  That's all for this month. Happy Austineering.
